Introduction From NOG

Author James McMinn

It’s hard not to notice Motorcycle technology is advancing at an incredible rate and BMW are at the forefront of this development with innovations such as the new TFT display with connected ride, the SOS function and the integration between Bike OBC and Sat Nav. At times it can be hard to keep up with the latest technologies, it’s all very well having a user manual but often this doesn’t offer real world support when you need it.

Our original plan was to hold a number of Sat-Nav workshops aimed at coaching Club members and our customers on how to get the best out of their BMW Navigation devices, but after discussing this with Steve Moxey it was quickly realised that although this would have an instant impact on how this group of people used their navigation, it was quite limited and wouldn’t necessarily be relevant to the masses.

It was then decided that we should form a group of regular sat-nav users who had got to grips with their BMW Sat-Nav devices and were happy to work together and come up with ways to help other members get the best out of their devices. They are known as The EUG!

Obviously when purchasing a sat-nav from BMW you get all of the benefits of warranty and retailer back-up as standard when the unit is faulty but this is not what the EUG is for, the group was formed to support people if they get stuck or are unsure of how to use their device and also how to get more from the device, which is something which BMW are unable to offer.

You will notice that there is now a forum on the Oxford Section website which is your best route to gaining support with any sat-nav related issues from the EUG, we will also be running a Garmin basecamp beginners workshop in the coming months and releasing a top tips leaflet so watch this space!
