My FIRST BMW – K100RS 8V 1988

K100RS 8V 1988

This is a bit of a challenge – can you write a post about your FIRST BMW motorcycle? Well this is a post about my first BMW a lovely red K100RS 8V. We purchased the BMW from SPC Motorcycles in Farringdon, Hampshire to replace a Honda XBR500 which I had been using for short trips, we wanted something that could manage two-up touring.

The salesman Paul, the ‘P’ in SPC, tried very hard to persuade me that a blue K75S would be a better choice as my first BMW – he was probably right but I was addicted to the extra, effortless power of the K100 engine. We had some very good times with the K100RS the only problem I can report was the tingle through the handlebars which could numb your hands on a long journey, just like a modern XR!

Eventually I traded the K100RS 8V in for a white K100RS 16V from SPC.

So back to the challenge. Do you have a story to tell? All BMW Club members must have had a FIRST BMW, are you a newbie, or do you have some interesting machines in your past? Please post on the BMW Club Oxford website, or in the BMW Club Oxford Facebook group.
