R1250RT Crowd Sourced Road Test project

We would like to invite members to test (at your leisure) the RT R1250 model with the main focus would be the new engine of course.

We would then report your views under a small number of key headings:-

  • 1250 engine impressions (power/torque/noise)?
  • VVT system in operation (can you detect operation?)
  • R1250 in operation, what’s it like to ride?
  • New exhaust system
  • Slipper clutch
  • Dynamic Hill Start Pro (new modes and operation)
  • Overall impressions: better than the R1200, would you buy one?
  • New technology on the bikes, do it enhance your riding experience?

Send all your comments / suggestions to dave.tomlinson@bmwoxford.comSocial Secretary for the Oxford Section

January 1stLock, Stock & Barrel Lunch – Steve Moxey

We had a very good turnout at the Lock Stock and Barrel lunch in Newbury. The venue was booked for 25-30 but we probably exceeded that! A number came by motorcycle including Andy and Kate on their very nice C650GT – Happy New Year

January 13th– Bring & Buy sale

Always a great excuse to get the bike out and head to our winter haunt at Uffington to enjoy the excellent hospitality provided by club members including Dave Shanks and Dave Hicks and many others. Bacon butties, cake, hot drinks, what an excellent welcome. Members came from far and wide including one stalwart who had ridden from Hastings. The bring & buy stalls seemed busy with lots of members mingling in the hall and as usual lots of old and new friends standing quite close to the food….. an excellent event much enjoyed by everyone!

Oxford section annual Bring & Buy sale – a chance to clear your garage (10% to club funds of what you sell), or just come and have a look and find things you really need. Venue Uffington Village Hall SN7 7RA.
Food Bacon Rolls , Sausages in Buns, Hot Soup, Tea and Coffee are available from 13.00. Sellers can start setting up from 13:00 and the Bring & Buy starts at 14.00.

Steve Moxey: We had a good turnout at the Bring & Buy this afternoon, good food and reasonable weather, plenty of motorcycles including David Sanders new R1250GS – very striking in the Enduro colours. We also handed out prize t shirts to Mark Blakeley, June M West (Zenon) and Ian Cummins (via Tim Bolderston) for test riding the R1250GS and completing our test survey – well done

January 24thSNR Shillingford Bridge Lunch – Steve Moxey

A very good turnout for the first SNR + lunch at the Shillingford Bridge Hotel, 16 in all. Thanks to everyone for a very good lunch. Look out for more SNRs in 2019, or organise one yourself?
