The Royal British Legion have this year organised the Ride of Respect to be held on Sunday 1st June. The ride is from Dalton Barracks (RAF Abingdon to Brize Norton and Carterton, passing by the Garden of Remembrance. The ride will finish in Carterton where there will be some entertainment for those who wish to stay. Andy Lawson will be attending this year and should be pleased to lead a short ride to the event to join as a group within the Ride of Respect.
Details of the event can be found here:

The plan is to assemble at the old Little Chef service station on the A420 near Buckland (SN7 8PY) at 09:30 for a 10:00 sharp departure. Petrol is available and the café has reopened so those arriving early can get refreshments/breakfast before leaving. There will then be a short ride East along the A420 to Kingston Bagpuize, turning Right onto A415 continuing on through Frilford and on through Marcham. Then take a Left turn following directions to Dalton Barracks. The aim to arrive for 10:30am.
The cost for participation is £10 per person and all funds go the Poppy Appeal. Monies are paid direct to the Royal British Legion. Pre-registration and payment can be completed online at:

Registrations for this year’s event are closing at 6.00pm on Friday 16 May. You will need to register before the deadline or you will not receive your registration packs in time for the ride. When registering, ensure you enter the time of 10:30. This is your arrival time and not departure.
It is unclear at this time as to whether bikers can just turn up on the day and pay the entry fee. This will all depend on whether the event becomes oversubscribed.
There will be refreshments to purchase (tea/coffee/bacon roles etc.) on the airfield at Dalton Barracks as well as an opportunity to purchase badges/patches/flags etc. from the Royal British Legion stall.
If you have any questions or require further information, you can contact Andy Lawson either by email: harvest.moon@ntlworld.com or phone: 01993 212561 mobile 07921 252726
Good news published on Facebook – Those who missed the 16th cut off date for registration, may now role up at Dalton Barracks and pay on the day!
So follow the details posted above and we can all arrive and ride together as a group. Hope to see you on June 1st.
