Trans America

Nigel Richardson gave a fantastic talk about his experience on the Globebusters TransAmerica ride in 2009. Nigel completed over 23,000 miles on his journey from Prudhoe bay in Alaska to Patagonia at the end of South America. It must have been good as he has also done the North Cape and is planning to ride the Silk Road to Singapore in 2012.

The good news is that he has promised to come back and speak at future BMW Club Events!

  1. Nigel said that this was the first time he had given a talk. I was well impressed with it. Both the content and the pace were excellent. One can sometimes nod off if the are too many "Well here we are now in…" but he kept us all alert and very well entertained.I'm definitely chicken after seeing what happened to some of the party. I have also watched Long Way Round and Long Way Down. I am currently reading Charlie Boorman's book "Race to Dakar" which also emphasizes the danger of long distance race riding.I hope to get out and off road a bit more on my GSA this year.If anyone wants to try some interesting roads and is not on the German trip in late June, try the North East Section Reivers Boreen weekend. I went on the first one and thoroughly enjoyed it. They use roads in the Cheviots and Borders and Upper Teesdale. Magnificent country.
