Getting Started with WordPress Videos

This page contains some help on getting started with the BMW Club Oxford Section blog.

Basically a blog is a bit like a diary or notebook, you just note down things that are interesting (called posting) and then comment on other peoples entries (called commenting). That is pretty much all there is to it, however I know it can be a little daunting to get started so I have put together some YouTube videos which cover the four stages of getting to grips with the blog. These are not professional of course but they may help you get started.

The four steps in terms of increasing effort are:

1. SUBSCRIBING TO THE BMW CLUB OXFORD SECTION WORDPRESS BLOG
This ensures that you receive updates to your email when a new post or comment is made. It means you don’t need to keep checking the blog (which is an bmwcluboxford.wordpress.com) to see what is happenning. You will get an email including a link to the entry. Hopefully everyone can do this OK.

2. COMMENTING ON THE BMW CLUB OXFORD SECTION WORDPRESS BLOG
This is only very slightly more difficult and again everyone should be able to do this OK. You don’t need to register to comment, just click in the speech bubble near the post you want to comment on fill in the form and enter your email. Note ALL comments are moderated by me so if you make a mistake I won’t put it on the site, we can also remove comments easily if needed.

3. GETTING A NEW WORDPRESS ACCOUNT FOR THE BMW CLUB OXFORD SECTION WORDPRESS BLOG
To go further you need to setup a WordPress account, it is NOT difficult and several of you have done this already!

Please see the YouTube video for details: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6sD9cxkTHoo

4. CREATING A NEW POST ON THE BMW CLUB OXFORD SECTION WORDPRESS BLOG
Now you ready for the final stage, creating and posting your own entry. A post can be just a few lines of text or almost a full scale web page, it is entirely up to you. Images tend to be good as well.

Please see the YouTube video for details: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bzVTKxqHDro

Once you have mastered posting there are some very fast ways of doing this through email which are very good if you have a smartphone with a camera, more on this later.
