On April 21st the BMW Club AGM was held at Moffat in Scotland and seven Oxford section members attended by car (Derek Johnson, Richard Powell, Geoff Clough and Rob Allin) and bike (Andy Lawson, Catherine Moxey, Steve Moxey).
The weather on the way up was surprisingly good and the rain did not start until just south of Manchester and was heavy through the lake district. We had some very good accommodation at the Moffat House Hotel.
Moffat was a very good location for a BMW Club AGM is the accommodation was about 100 yards from the Moffat Town Hall where the AGM was held and the dinner was about another 100 yards so very easy. The local BMW dealer Motorrad Central supported the AGM with a display of bikes and were very friendly.
BMW Club AGMs are something of an acquired taste and we won’t include a report on the content, here is the ‘top table’ limbering up before the action begins. About 120 BMW club members attended seven more than in Durham in 2011. There was an award for Erica Body in the Southern Section recognising here contribution to the BMW Club, Gerri collected it on her behalf!
The Scottish section hospitality was excellent and everyone was very welcome. They had even organised some biscuits with the BMW Motorrad logo (branding guidelines?) and the scottish shortbread was fantastic. We had a visit to a local car and aviation enthusiast, Dr Ian MacLeod, who had a Spitfire in his garden!
Overall an excellent AGM and we would certainly go back to an AGM organised by the Scottish section in future!
