Geoff Steele’s Memorial Service, Black Bourton

The Memorial Service in Remembrance of our Friend Geoff Steele was held at St Mary’s Church, Black Bourton on the 5th Dec 2014 and conducted by Rev Dereck Spears.

The Church was packed with his Family and Friends from his working life as well as Velocette and BMW Acquaintances and included the Chairman Of the Velocette Owners Club and our own President Mike Warrilow.

Graham Bentley and Martyn Steele both gave us interesting and amusing snapshots of Geoff’s amazing world. There were anecdotes from his family life and his time in the RAF, Seymours and CSE Aviation at Kidlington Airport.

Geoff’s Bike collection obviously had a mention and in particular a Velo that he called Yum Yum. This was one of Geoffs many specials built to satisfy his love of long distance riding for which he had many trophies.

There really is so much, about Geoff, that people are unaware of. Someone really ought to write a book about him.

Donations in lieu of flowers were for Macmillan Nurses. Anyone who would still like to donate to this worthwhile cause can still do so by sending a cheque payable to Macmillan Nurses or Sobell House Hospice Charity c/o E.Taylor & Son, 21 Corbett Rd., Carterton, Oxon. OX18 3LG.

Thanks to Martyn Steele we were all invited to The Chequers, at Brize Norton, for refreshments.

John Broad sent these photos for all to see.

  1. The church was full with plenty of people standing at the back. Rev. Derek Spears conducted a very good service and skilfully dealt with an interruption when one of the guests needed urgent medical attention. The service brought back fond memories of Geoff and his many exploits. Steve
