I have been having cooling issues with my K16 over the past few years, stripping it down and cleaning in a home-made bath of cleaner, which enabled me to keep the bike “Helga” cool enough for year-round use….
A trip to the B5009 in Germany made me think it was time to get the radiator professionally cleaned, no one wants to have cooling issues 1000 miles from blighty.
Research uncovered a company in the West Midlands that has also appeared in “Practical Sportsbikes” as a motorcycle specific workshop for radiator repairs http://www.westmerciaradiators.co.uk/motorbike_radiator_repairs.html……
I duly made an appointment and took the radiator to the workshop in Wednesbury, in the West Midlands and was met by an amiable and knowledgeable guy called Sam. He looked at the radiator and immediately dismissed a recore due to the plastic headers (it was very dirty) and how very honest, instead he suggested a through chemical clean…
It only took a couple of days to be presented with an “as new” freshly minted radiator which had been pressure tested and painted.
Looking very smart in position and works perfectly in all conditions and of course, very cost effective against a £500+ new rad, I can highly recommend them.

Hi Dave,
Looks like you’ve found a useful company here with this service. What sort of costs are involved please?
Thanks in advance.
