Hales Fruit Farm Meet Up Ride Out – Sunday 24th May

By David Tomlinson.

We all met at the picturesque Starbucks which is part of the Esso fuel station in Bicester…. However, on the positive side there was fuel, coffee and plenty of parking…

I thought I would be nice and early at 9.15, but by then at least 2 riders had already arrive, how very keen, eventually a total of 14 riders turned up, including one who had only passed her test in December…

This was also an experiment for me, as school has rather been getting in the way of the longer mid-week rides, so a move to Sunday seemed very sensible at least for the longer summer riding season…

We quickly left the in Bicester traffic behind as we headed Westwards along the excellent resurfaced roads towards upper Heyford, Enstone, Chipping Norton, Kingham, Stow on the Wold and the sublime bends on the hill around Stanway, well worth a visit on their own right …

A very convivial lunch was enjoyed at the cafe at Hales Fruit Farm, loving the sausage rolls in absolutely perfect sunshine…

Some riders then left as they lived over in the area whist the rest of us enjoyed a sublime series of roads back to Bicester where we said our goodbyes, judging from the comments post ride on meet up, the route, pace and convivial banter was greatly enjoyed, and all seemed to have signed up for the next adventure…
