Product Review – CyMarc TFT Guard

By Henk Gouws, R1200GSA

Many of us have heard stories of TFT theft from modern BMWs, although it is always difficult to gauge the true level of risk which must depend on a number of factors including where the bike is parked and other security measures such as an alarm. Working on the basis that to escape from a chasing tiger it is not necessary to outrun the tiger, just the slowest runner (!), I decided to install a TFT Guard on my R1200GSA.The product provides a non-intrusive deterrent.

I chose the Cymarc product as they have a good reputation and I was able to obtain the TFT Guard from the Adventure Bike Shop who provided excellent customer service. There are many other similar products on the market. There is also a screen shade option but I decided I did not need that feature but it is available as part of the TFT Guard if you need it. The installation took about 10 minutes and was very simple – I don’t claim any technical expertise so it must be pretty easy!

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder as they say so you will have to judge the appearance of the TFT Guard compared to the standard GSA TFT from the photos. I am very satisfied with the product and would rate it as 7 out of 10. So far it has been successful as my GSA still has its TFT!
