XCP Professional Rust Blocker vs ACF-50 Anti-Corrosion

Yes, it is that time of year again, wet, muddy, horrible and later salt on roads, that turn our minds to winter protection for the beloved bike.

I was reading an interesting article about corrosion prevention in the January 2020 edition of Ride, where a wide range of products were compared and the top two were XCP Professional Rust Blocker and ACF-50.

For some time ACF-50 has been my go-to product, but the article intrigued me to find out more about XCP. On their website https://xcp-protection.com/professional/ there is an interesting video of a test carried out by John, Editior of Bike Social, Bennetts Bike, to compare the rust protection provided by a number of products on the market. The objective of the test was to see over time what level of rust protection was given in a well thought out indoor experiment using a 5% solution of road salt. The whole test goes on over seven and a half months!

On the strength of the video, I have bought some XCP Professional Rust Blocker and I will give it a go on certain vulnerable metal areas of the bike, for example wheel spokes. For the moment I will continue to use ACF-50 on plastic areas and bodywork as I have been doing in the past.
