OMR to Coventry Transport Museum

Oxford Meetup® Ride to the Coventry Transport Musuem
Wednesday 23rd June

We all gathered at the Costa at Botley, and as usual the banter and friendship started early… always a treat!

Coffees consumed, ears pinned back, and toilet trips accomplished, we started on the route swinging west initially, then out toward North Leigh on relatively traffic free roads, and great progress…

The weather was being very kind, given the temperatures and rainfall that have been experienced over the last week or so, time to top up the vitamin D levels…

Onwards towards our destination, past Soho House and those lovely bends, great roads requiring concentration and finesse, ending up on the Coventry ring road… It may be the city of culture in 2021, but the roads in this area are heavy with seemingly endless traffic and complex turnings…

By slowing down, no one got lost and we were treated to “concierge parking” by the museum staff, allowing us to leave our motorcycling gear on the bikes and to continue unencumbered for a delicious lunch and a tour of the museum. What an amazing collection of vehicles, culminating in the 1000kmh land speed record holder – a treasure trove of amazing vehicles…

We then said our farewells and returned south, enjoying the amazing weather… already looking forward to the next one ..
