Advance Info about Ian Dobie’s Portsmouth Ride Out

Portsmouth-Harbour

More details of the Ride Out will be available soon. Those interested in visiting the attractions might find Ian’s comments, below, useful.

It’s worth remembering that the ride out is on the 1st Sunday of June…….most are ride outs are on the 2nd  Sunday of the month.

Portsmouth Trip 7th June

Start point – Newbury Wharf, Timings TBC

Portsmouth Harbour has many attractions – the Mary Rose, HMS Victory (Nelson’s Flagship), HMS Warrior (first British iron clad warship), HMS Alliance, National Royal Navy Museum, Explosives Museum,        Royal Marines Museum and Action Stations. I estimate that visiting just 2 of the top 3 will take around 4hrs minimum depending on your interest.

The best deal is to pre-book an “All Attraction ticket” at £25:60 per adult (seniors £23) which last 12 months and means you can return anytime within the 12 months to visit any of the other attractions go to the “Portsmouth Historic Dockyard” website for booking details. On the gate prices are £28, and £26, however, they also last for 12 months. You do not save a great deal by paying for just one attraction and paying individually for 2 on the day is very expensive.

Parking – There are only 20 M/cycle spaces on site which cost, £1- 2hrs, £2 – 2-4hrs, £3 – 4-6hrs & £4 – 6-8hrs. I have been told that cannot reserve or pre-book these, but I’m working on it. There is also a park & ride just off the M275 entry to Portsmouth, £3 all day including the bus fare. On a Sunday the buses run every hour and take approx 16 minutes to the Museum Site, which may prove a more viable option.

  4. The parking in the Spinnaker Tower multi storey was free, for Bikes, last time we went……..you take a ticket and park in a special area then go out via a special bike lane.
I’ll mention it to Ian before he sends out final details.

  5. Just used my tesco vouchers ….
